DAKOTA RAPTOR
Button 1 - Popularized by the “Jurassic Park” films, “raptors” are known for being fast, nimble, small dinosaurs with stiff tails and feet equipped with killer claws. But in 2005, remains were uncovered of an entirely different type of raptor - the massive 7 foot tall Dakotaraptor.
Button 2 - Dakotaraptors are among the largest and most dangerous breed of raptors known. In particular, the sickle claws on the middle toe of the Dakotaraptor’s feet measure 9.5 inches long and are thought to have been used for grabbing onto their prey and slicing them to bits. Dakotaraptor was truly a very lethal predator.
Button 3 - When scientists studied the Dakotaraptor’s fossils, they discovered something interesting - “Quill Knobs” found on the lower arm bones. This discovery is the first time that scientists have documented evidence that a large raptor had feathered wings. However, because of their size, they could not fly. The wings' true purpose is still being researched.
